Fans Go Gaga Over Halftime Show

Gaga Super Bowl largeWe are just four days away from Sunday’s Super Bowl LI between the Atlanta Falcons and youuuuuuuur New England Patriots! As you might imagine, the excitement level, on a scale of 1-10, is currently running at about a 12 in Boston. Fans are also understandably excited about Lady Gaga‘s highly anticipated Pepsi Halftime Show performance. Earlier this week the Karson and Kennedy morning show on CBS Radio’s WBMX (Mix 104.1)/Boston had the privilege of speaking to Gaga, who is in the final stages of her rehearsal in Houston. “Our boss, Steve Salhany set up the interview for us, as we were only one of the three stations in the country to get an interview,” host Karson Tager tells RAMP. “We talked for almost 15 minutes about several topics, ranging from the Super Bowl and rooftop performance rumors to her opening for New Kids on the Block in Boston circa 2008. Obviously, she was tight lipped about the Halftime Show, but said she wants a show that will ‘bring people together.'”

Other highlights: Gaga insisted the NFL had not tried to prevent her from getting political during her performance. “Absolutely not,” she said. “They’ve been super supportive and they’ve been there every day at the rehearsal space with us and cheering me on while I rehearse.” While Gaga did not specifically confirm the rumors that she would be performing on the roof of NRG Stadium and/or suspended in the air, she did admit that the idea sprang from the mind of her sister, Natali, as she said, “My sister was like, ‘I know, let’s suspend you in the air!'” Rumors continue to circulate that the legendary Tony Bennett will also be involved in the show.

It didn’t take long for news of Karson & Kennedy’s Gaga conversation to be picked up by NBC’s Today show, where host (and AMP Radio/Los Angeles morning personality) Carson Daly knew exactly what to do, shrewdly elevating the standard television/radio station shout-out above and beyond the expected “a local Boston radio station,” awesomely introducing WBMX as “Mix 104.1, playing all the hits.” Part One of the interview aired on Monday, and Part Two will air today.
