Frito & Katy Ready To Ride Houston’s Bull
• Yesterday we told you that Tucker “Frito” Young and Katy Dempsey had resigned from mornings on CMG Country KCYY (Y100)/San Antonio for a new gig TBA… RAMP has now confirmed that the Texas-born pair is on the road to Houston as the new hosts of the cleverly named Frito & Katy morning show on Audacy Country KILT-FM (100.3 The Bull), with a start date of Jan. 10. They will succeed The Morning Bullpen, which departed in December.
“The duo’s passion for relentlessly serving the local community as well as their focus on local content on-air is perfect for Houston,” said Sarah Frazier, SVP/Market Manager, Audacy Houston. “We can’t wait for our audience to start their days with this award-winning show.”
Prior to joining KCYY three years ago, Frito and Katy did mornings together on Bryan Broadcasting Top 40 KNDE (Candy 95)/Bryan-College Station, TX — where Frito was also OM of the group and Katy was PD of Candy 95. Their show has received numerous honors, including the 2024 CMA Award for Major Market Personality, a 2021 Marconi Award, several Crystal awards, and the Bonner McLane Award for Community Service from the Texas Association of Broadcasters.
Dempsey exclaimed, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d wind up back in my hometown to do radio with the station I grew up listening to. We are beyond excited to work with Sarah Frazier, Melissa Chase and all the pros at Audacy, and we can’t wait to start serving the great listeners of 100.3 The Bull and the city of Houston!”
