KAMP/LA Rebrands, Adjusts Jocks

UPDATED: Audacy Top 40 KAMP (97.1 AMP)/Los Angeles has rebranded as 97.1 NOW! (LA’s Party Station) and introduced a revised on-air line-up: weekdays still kick off with The Morning Mess featuring Joey Boy, Aneesh Ratan, Jeana Shepard and Karla Hernandez, imported from sister KALV (Live 101.5)/Phoenix. The 97.1 NOW! midday show is now hosted by Julia, who is based in afternoon drive at sister B96/Chicago, followed by recent arrival Josh Brubaker, who drives you home from 3-7pm. Station vet Yesi Ortiz, who recently moved from afternoon drive to middays, now moves to 7-midnight.

This rebranding officially terminates the “AMP Radio” branding that was originally concepted by CBS Radio in 2009 and also used — and subsequently dropped — in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Orlando. We understand that Audacy plans to reactivate the more “NOW”-appropriate KNOU call letters to replace KAMP. Those calls had been attached to now-former Top 40 NOW 96.3/St. Louis — which became Urban AC WFUN-FM last November.

“As more and more Americans receive their COVID-19 vaccine, now is the time for us to safely get back on our feet and get moving with the daily habits we love and miss,” said Jeff Federman, Regional President, Audacy Southern California. “This rebrand not only embodies the spirit of our return to normalcy, but also the dynamic state of today’s music industry and we’re excited to usher in this new era with our consumers. As LA’s party station, our programming will spotlight the biggest stars in music and deliver a fresh listening experience to our audience no matter the time of day.”
