Kevin Ryder Comes Home To KROQ
• Audacy’s World Famous KROQ/Los Angeles welcomes Kevin Ryder back to the family. Ryder, who famously co-hosted the station’s legendary Kevin & Bean morning show alongside Gene “Bean” Baxter for three decades, will now anchor afternoon drive. Megan Holiday will now host evenings.
“Kevin Ryder is a Radio Hall of Fame Broadcaster who spent most of his adult life waking up SoCal with his former partner Bean,” said Kevin Weatherly, KROQ Senior Vice President of Programming. “Their authentic and irreverent morning show is legendary, and I’ve had the privilege of having a front-row seat for the majority of it. Kevin’s return to KROQ in afternoons is a full-circle moment in the best way possible.”
Ryder began his KROQ career on January 2, 1990, alongside Baxter as co-host of The Kevin & Bean Show. Together, they became the No. 1 show in the Los Angeles market and the longest-running morning show in the country. In late 2019, the duo was inducted into Radio Hall of Fame, and Baxter announced he was leaving the show and moving to London. In January 2020, the show was rebranded as Kevin In The Morning With Allie & Jensen, featuring Allie Mac Kay and Jensen Karp. Around that same time, KROQ’s original architect Kevin Weatherly left for Spotify. Four months into his new show (and under new management), Ryder and crew were unceremoniously fired and replaced with Ted Stryker and Kevin Klein. A year later, Ryder was hired to co-host afternoon drive alongside Doug “Sluggo” Roberts on Meruelo Media’s 95.5 KLOS, a stint that lasted until Sept. 2024.
“I spent half of my life with my fellow favorite weirdos, helping to make KROQ an iconic radio station and a global destination to foster and nurture musical groups,” said Ryder. “It was also a home for many LA listeners, and with my old boss back programming KROQ, I’m excited to be speaking my own version of the English language again at the station I love.”
