New Morning Era Upon WIXX

• In early October we first reported that Jim Murphy would be retiring from mornings on Midwest Communications heritage Top 40 101.1 WIXX/Green Bay on Nov. 28, wrapping up an amazing 32-year run. It was originally expected that a newly hired morning host would join Murphy’s veteran co-hosts Katie Schurk and Nick Vitrano.

However, that situation has now changed, as RAMP has learned that Schurk and Vitrano have mutually decided to leave WIXX. Both co-hosts shared the news of their decisions in identical Dec. 8 Facebook posts. Schurk’s post reads: “November 28th was an incredibly difficult and emotional day. Today may prove even more difficult. That being said, with the support of our families, Nick and I have made the decision to leave WIXX. Before anything further, most importantly, we would like to say thank you. Thank you for being a supportive community of listeners who welcomed us into your lives. It’s truly been an honor, and we are grateful for that privilege.”

The post continues, “Thank you to Midwest Communications for giving us the opportunity to do what we love for a living, with some of our very best friends. As for the future, Nick and I want to take time away to process this life altering decision. We are sure that you have questions, but we would appreciate you respecting our privacy while we navigate our futures. We love and appreciate you all.”

WIXX thanked Katie and Nick in a Facebook post that reads: “After much consideration, Nick and Katie have made the extremely tough decision to leave WIXX / Midwest Communications. We thank them for their years (Katie: 20, Nick: 21) of service to Northeast Wisconsin. With Murphy’s recent emotional send-off still fresh, their wish for a quiet exit was honored. We will miss them and sincerely wish them the best. Stay tuned for the next chapter of WIXX mornings starting soon!”

And on that note, look for WIXX Brand Manager Cory Carter to post this very rare opportunity soon. [Photos from LinkedIn]
