Pfeffer Moves Into MSG Advisory Role

RAMP has confirmed that, after a five-year run with the Madison Square Garden Company as Executive Vice President of MSG Live, Darren Pfeffer is transitioning into a new role as a Senior Advisor for MSG Entertainment (MSGE).

A spokesperson for MSGE told RAMP, “We want to thank Darren for his strategic leadership as EVP of MSG Live for the past five years. He has made the decision to transition from his current role to a senior advisory role for MSG Entertainment where he will work with us on special projects and important initiatives as we continue to rebuild for the future.”

Pfeffer notably carved out a successful 20-year career with iHeartMedia, rising through the ranks to become SVP of Music and Entertainment Marketing. Over his two decades with iHeartMedia, Pfeffer was responsible for overseeing all aspects of more than 160 marquee events, including the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, the iHeartCountry Festival and the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina. Pfeffer had also served as Executive Producer of Z100/New York‘s Jingle Ball since 2006 — elevating that annual holiday concert into a multi-market iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour and a nationally televised event on The CW.

In May 2017 Pfeffer made the decision to leave iHeartMedia and joined The Madison Square Garden Company as EVP of MSG Live, where he was involved in Phish‘s “Baker’s Dozen” stint at MSG, Josh Groban‘s residency at Radio City Music Hall, Ali Wong‘s residency at the Beacon Theatre, and just recently, five sold-out nights of Harry Styles at The Garden. During the pandemic came the birth of the first-ever virtual residency, Trey Anastasio‘s Beacon Jams, 8 nights of music streamed live on Twitch from the Beacon Theatre, and in July of 2020, Darren and his team brought Rock & Roll back to NYC with the return of live concerts as Foo Fighters re-opened The Garden. Going forward, Pfeffer can still be reached at darren.pfeffer@msg.com.
