Post-Holiday Magic In Albuquerque
• Cumulus AC KMGA (Magic 99.5)/Albuquerque, NM emerged from holiday music mode refreshed and ready to take on the new year. Now operating under the new slogan, “Today’s Hits & Yesterday’s Favorites” Magic 99.5 will feature new songs from artists like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran, alongside ’80s and ’90s hits from Prince, Journey, Backstreet Boys, etc.
Magic 99.5 also revealed a new on-air schedule, starting with the debut of the syndicated Bob & Sheri morning show, weekdays from 5-9am. Magic’s current morning duo of Doug Durocher and Steph Duran will now host their own shows — Duran (right) will follow Bob & Sheri from 9am-2pm, and Durocher (left) will drive you home from 2-7pm. Intelligence for Your Life with John Tesh moves from middays to 7-midnight.
Kris Abrams, OM/PD of Magic 99.5, said, “Getting live midday and afternoon shows back on Magic 99.5 with great talents like Steph and Doug will provide the entertainment and companionship the Magic at-work audience craves. Bob & Sheri are one of the best morning shows around and are so very compatible with what we do on Magic. It’s a win-win-win for our listeners with this strong new weekday lineup!” Abrams added, “These are the right moves at the right time. Magic is always one of the most-listened-to stations throughout the holiday season with all-Christmas music. To come right out of that with these upgrades will not only make longtime listeners happy, but will also convert a lot of new fans still listening after the holiday.”
Jeff Berry, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Albuquerque, commented, “Magic has long been Albuquerque’s at-work station. Bob & Sheri start things off in a big way, and then Steph and Doug take it live all day — that creates an unmatched platform for our clients to get their message out to the Magic audience.”
