Cool Breeze Blows Into Sacramento

UPDATED 12:35pm: iHeartMedia is getting busy  in Sacramento, preparing to launch a new station while moving another one — let’s start with the impending debut of Soft AC 92.5 The Breeze, “Sacramento’s #1 For Relaxing Favorites at Work,” which will launch on Monday, Nov. 12 at 3pm PT on KBEB, the former location of Country 92.5 The Bull — that station will pack up its programming (and the syndicated Bobby Bones Show) and move north on the dial to 107.1 FM (K296GB), displacing the Smooth Jazz format, which will now air exclusively on the iHeartRadio app.

To get the audience ready for these moves, The Bull will simulcast on 92.5 and its new 107.1 home from 5pm Thursday through Monday at 3pm.

92.5 The Breeze will be under the command of Ricci Filiar, who programs sister KISQ (98.1 The Breeze)/San Francisco. The station will launch with 10,000 songs in a row, commercial-free, featuring a scientifically soothing blend of music from such artists as Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Whitney HoustonMichael Bolton, Vanessa Williams, etc. The full talent line-up for 92.5 The Breeze will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

“The timing is perfect to bring 92.5 The Breeze to our iHeartMedia Sacramento market,” said Sara McClure, Market President for iHeartMedia Sacramento. “We’re taking our powerful 50,000-watt signal back to when it was a powerful AC station playing familiar favorites for today’s listeners.”

Curtiss Johnson, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Sacramento remarked, “No doubt many in Sacramento will remember the station 92.5 for its decades- long heritage as an Adult Contemporary station and one of the top stations in the market. I’m happy to say we’re bringing that format back to Adult Contemporary. 92.5 The Breeze is the perfect station for relaxing to favorites while you work, unwinding after a long day or just for getting into that weekend frame of mind.”

• Concurrent with The Bull’s migration to 107.1, RAMP has confirmed the departure of PD Chris Matthews, who joined The Bull in March of this year, following a stint as APD/MD and morning co-host on Entercom Country KMLE/Phoenix. Matthews (left) previously served as Director of Marketing and Promotions at Cumulus Media Tucson and he also worked at KAWO/Boise, ID. Matthews is now seeking his next opportunity and is available to chat at chrismatthewsdj@gmail.com.

Amanda Burd, (right) will remain with the company as APD/midday talent for 92.5 The Breeze and have daily programming oversight of 107.1 The Bull.
