‘B’ True To Your Heritage

• After a five-year run operating under the “More FM” moniker, Entercom’s heritage AC WBEB/Philadelphia thrilled millions of area residents today with the big announcement that it is returning to the beloved former longtime B101.1 identifier it had used from December 26, 1993 (when it dropped EZ 101) until December 2013, when it morphed into More FM. To accompany the newly updated logo, the station is now identifying itself as “Philly’s B101.1: More Music, More Variety.”

Now, please enjoy this very special staff memo from a visibly thrilled David Yadgaroff, SVP/Market Manager of Entercom Philadelphia, who said, “I’m thrilled to let you know that, as of today, 101.1 FM will return to the iconic name B101.1. This was a natural choice that honors the station as one of the most beloved and recognized in broadcast history. Our on-air presentation, lineup of live and local personalities, and strategy of playing a highly-researched music catalogue will remain unchanged.”

He continued, “During its storied history, B101 was the most aggressively marketed radio station in the country. Our plan is to invest heavily in Philadelphia’s most-listened-to radio station. As you’ve heard from me before, Entercom likes to play offense. This move is another example of that mindset. Yadgaroff describes the updated logo as “a fresh and fun interpretation of the one used by this beloved Philadelphia institution for so many years.”

In closing, Yadgaroff told the staff, “I hope you share in my excitement about the return of B101.1 to Philadelphia radio. If you have any questions or thoughts, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Just don’t ask when we’ll start playing Christmas music — like all great presents, that one is a surprise!”
