Greg Williams’ Lawyer Responds

• On Monday RAMP and other media outlets reported that Greg “The Hitman” Williams, longtime Brand Manager and morning personality on Audacy Rhythmic KDGS (Power 93.5)/Wichita had been taken the air while the company investigates shocking claims of sexual harassment leveled against him by now-former Power 93.5 afternoon personality Johnny “DJ Koolout” Starks, who was recently terminated after six months, allegedly for “not being a good fit.” Starks detailed his allegations in an explosive and exhaustively detailed account posted to his Facebook page.

On Tuesday afternoon we received this email from Donald N. Peterson, II of the law firm of Graybill & Hazlewood, L.L.C. in Wichita, KS, which reads: “This office represents Greg Williams. Greg is issuing the following statement: ‘The allegations by Johnny Starks on social media about a supposed bathroom incident after his show on July 6, and his termination the next day in retaliation, are verifiably false. Security videos prove Greg Williams left the building before Starks’ show ended that day. Further, the documented process of terminating Starks’ employment began long before, and had nothing to do with anything on, July 6. There was no bathroom incident and no retaliation. It is unfortunate and unfair to Williams that social media, and some traditional media outlets, have allowed unfounded allegations to be circulated so easily.”

• Peterson’s letter does not specifically mention the new allegations leveled against Williams that were broadcast Monday on local CBS affiliate KWCH-TV. These latest accusers are a former head waitress at a downtown Wichita bar, and a man who said he met Williams in 1989 as part of a high school scholarship program. He said Williams went on to serve as a mentor when he started college. Details of their allegations are posted at kwch.com.
