Radio Talent Institute Launches Today
The fourth annual Confer Radio Talent Institute convenes this morning at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Students from nine different universities with the desire and drive to be in radio were accepted into the ten-day program, which kicks off today with a session featuring Pierre Bouvard, Chief Insights Officer at Cumulus Media and Westwood One.
Some 35 radio pros representing iHeartMedia, Entercom, Seven Mountains Media, Forever Media Group, Beasley Media Group, Cumulus, and CBS Radio will lead the sessions; that group includes national voiceover pro Pat Garrett, Joe Conti, President of the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters and two former Confer Radio Talent Institute students — Gabriella Loielo, an air talent at Forever Media’s WFRB (Big Froggy 105.3)/Cumberland, MD, and Jack Fritz, now a producer at WIP/Philadelphia.
Kerby Confer (pictured), Forever Media Partner and lifelong broadcaster, commented, “We want to make a difference, to give back and give this next generation a good firm foundation in how the communications business works, radio, TV, internet; it’s all intertwined now. I think we are going to birth a whole new generation of radio people.” Dan Vallie, President and Founder of the National Radio Talent System added, “This is the radio talent farm that we in the industry have always said we needed, and it’s true today more than ever.”
