Roula & Ryan… Minus Ryan

• There has been a major alteration in the Houston morning radio landscape, as RAMP has confirmed that Ryan Chase has exited as the longtime co-host of The Roula and Ryan Show with Eric on Cumulus Top 40 104.1 KRBE.

The news was initially broken by Houston media reporter Mike McGuff, who noted that host Roula Christie and co-host Eric Rowe shared the news during Monday’s show but offered no additional details, saying they “couldn’t comment on personnel matters.” However, Rowe did remark, “I’m proud of every show we’ve done together in all our 23 years as a team.”

According to McGuff, Chase began his career at KAFX (K-Fox 95.5)/Lufkin, TX. In the late ’90s he made the serious leap upward to the late WXRK (92.3 K-Rock)/New York, when Howard Stern was still the morning host. In 1998, Chase left New York for Dallas, joining KDGE (94.5 The Edge) as co-host of Jagger, Ryan & Michelle. Chase’s partnership with Roula and Producer Eric Rowe began in 2003 at KHMX (Mix 96.5)/Houston. Three years later the show moved to 104.1 KRBE, succeeding the team of Atom Smasherand Maria Todd.

Ironically, the morning team had just inked a five-year extension in February, while also updating the show’s title to The Roula & Ryan Show with Eric in recognition of Eric Rowe’s longtime contributions.

On the heels of Chase’s departure from KRBE, the show has again been rebranded, this time as The Roula Show with Eric, featuring Special K & Sam. Pictured, (l-r): Producer Sam, Special K, Roula and Eric

KRBE management was unable to comment when contacted by RAMP.
