Say ‘Howdy’ To Y100’s ‘Erik & Jenny’ AM Show

• Cox Media Group Country KCYY (Y100)/San Antonio has locked down its new morning show — the newly minted team of Erik Scott Smith and Jenny Lee will debut on Monday, May 5.

That prime spot has been open since Frito and Katy left in January to do mornings on Audacy Country KILT-FM (100.3 The Bull)/Houston.

And speaking of which… Smith most recently co-hosted the now former Morning Bullpen on Houston’s Bull alongside George Lindsey and Monica “Mo” Lunsford until they were caught up in Audacy’s pre-holiday cutbacks. Smith joined The Bull in October 2021, a change of format for the 13-year veteran of Meruelo Media Classic Rock KLOS/Los Angeles, where he was an air personality and Executive Producer of The Heidi & Frank Show.

Interestingly, it’s a CMG San Antonio return for Lee, former longtime APD/MD/morning co-host across the hall on Hot AC sister KSMG (Hits 105.3) until last November, when she and co-host Tony Cortez were released. [Ed. note: Cortez was also rehired in January to host mornings on Classic Hits 101.1 KONO]. Lee previously worked at iHeartMedia Top 40 WZEE (Z104)/Madison, WI.

“I’ve admired Erik’s talent from afar the last few years,” said Christi Brooks, Director of Branding & Programming for KCYY. “His energy and creativity are unmatched. When his time in Houston came to a close, I knew he had to be part of building something fresh and exciting at Y100. And I’ve seen firsthand how San Antonio listeners are drawn to Jenny — her authenticity and warmth. Her passion for radio is only matched by her dedication to the community through her incredible volunteer work.”

“I have been listening to this station from across Texas for many years now, and I’m just honored to be in the building,” Smith said. “Y100 is one of the most powerful Country music radio brands in America, and I can’t wait to jump into the rich culture and strong sense of community that makes San Antonio so beautiful. Not to mention — I get to build something with an amazing co-host who loves giving back… and enjoys laughing as much as I do.”

Lee commented, “After over a decade in San Antonio radio, I’m thrilled to be saddling up with the Y100 morning show. Y100 is a legendary brand, and I’m honored to be joining their incredible team! Erik and I can’t fix Loop 410 traffic, but we’ll do our best to deliver some energy and laughs to our listeners’ morning commutes!”
