Seacrest Steps Off The Red Carpet

• Radio & TV personality/media mogul Ryan Seacrest announced that he’s giving up one of his numerous on-air gigs — he stepping down as host of E! Entertainment’s Live from the Red Carpet show after 14 years. Seacrest, a longtime fixture on the red carpet at the Oscars and Golden Globes alongside his co-host Giuliana Rancic, broke the news via Instagram, as he posted, “After 14 years of hosting E!’s Live from the Red CarpetI’ve decided to move on to new adventures. I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana. Thanks to everyone for watching all these years.”

E! released its own farewell statement that read, “E! has long enjoyed our relationship with Ryan over the years especially as co-host of E!’s signature red carpet series. He has been instrumental in giving viewers a front row seat to some of Hollywood’s biggest nights. We are extremely appreciative of his many contributions and he will always be part of the E! family.”

As The Wrap.com notes, “Seacrest’s decision to move on comes at a time when in-person red carpets are few and far between thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, and as Seacrest’s relationship with E! as Executive Producer of the network’s flagship Keeping Up With the Kardashians is set to come to an end later this year.” Indeed, it was announced last fall that Keeping Up With the Kardashians will wrap with its 20th and final season this year.

This news of Seacrest stepping off the red carpet doesn’t exactly mean he will now be swimming in free time — in addition to his daily radio show, Seacrest continues to host his ABC daytime talk show Live With Kelly and Ryan alongside Kelly Ripa, as well as the network’s American Idol.
