‘The Award-Winning WTOP’

• Hubbard Radio’s mighty WTOP/Washington continues to add to its already extensive awards collection, taking home three first place Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association (CAPBA) Awards this past weekend, including Outstanding News Operation and Outstanding Website for WTOP.com.

“2020 was a tough year for journalists across the U.S.,” said Julia Ziegler, WTOP’s Director of News and Programming. She added, “We are honored that our work was recognized by CAPBA. These awards are truly a testament to the hard work of our team.” The complete list of Hubbard Radio DC’s 2020 CAPBA first place honors include: Outstanding Website — WTOP.com; Outstanding News Operation — WTOP, and Best Reporter— WTOP’s John Domen.

The winners were announced at a virtual ceremony held over the weekend. The Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association is comprised of television and radio professionals from across the region. Earlier this year, WTOP Reporter Monique Blyther was also recognized with a Best Social Video Telly Award for a video she produced during last year’s Black Lives Matter protests in DC. This year alone, WTOP has won 10 awards, including the regional Edward R. Murrow awards for Overall Excellence and Website.
