Thunder Rolls Back Into Grand Rapids

• On Friday evening at 6pm local time, the crew at Cumulus Media Grand Rapids, MI officially flushed Sports-Talk on 107.3 WBBL and launched a simulcast with Country clustermate WTNR. At the same time, the company dropped WTNR’s NASH FM 94.5 identifier and returned the station’s former longtime Thunder branding — the stations are now rolling as Thunder 107-3 and Thunder 94-5. No word yet on whether this simulcast is permanent, or if the company is planning a new format for one of the two signals.

The Sports-Talk format has migrated over to former News-Talk stations WJRW AM1340/Grand Rapids and 1490 WKLQ/Muskegon, both now rebranded as “The Ticket” and carrying Michigan Media Network programming — Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave in morning drive and The Huge Show in afternoons, alongside Dan Patrick and Jim Rome.
