WXYT/Detroit Announces ‘Jamie Samuelsen Studio’

• Entercom Sports-Talk WXYT (97.1 The Ticket)/Detroit made it official and announced that its main broadcast studio will be renamed “The Jamie Samuelsen Studio” in honor of the late Jamie Samuelsen, former Ticket morning show co-host, who passed away on August 1, 2020 after a two-year battle with colon cancer. He was only 48 years old.

Samuelson was diagnosed in January 2019 and had made it his mission to advocate for listeners to schedule colonoscopies right up to his final broadcast on July 27, 2020. Fittingly, the announcement of the studio’s renaming was made Wednesday morning during Samuelsen’s former shift — now The Morning Show With Stoney & Heather.

“Jamie meant so much to our station and was a key part of our listeners lives,” said Debbie Kenyon, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Detroit. “We want to honor him in a special way, not only as a great broadcaster, but an extraordinary person. We hope the renaming of the studio will serve as a way to keep his memory alive and add to his incredible legacy here in Detroit.”
