Today marks a pretty cool moment for fellow radio geeks, as RAMP has learned that the legendary Rick Dees, known and loved for his lengthy run on KIIS-FM/Los Angeles, will once again crack the morning mic in the City of Angels — this time across the hall on iHeartMedia AC KOST 103.5/Los Angeles. Here’s the deal — as you read this, KOST 103.5 morning host Ellen K is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center undergoing wrist surgery — the result of a snowboarding accident. As Ellen relates the story, she was showing off for her husband and teenage son when things went wrong… While Ellen is home recovering, the Ellen K In The Morning show will be in the capable hands of a variety of familiar and talented guest hosts. And who better to step up and host this morning’s inaugural fill-in broadcast is a man who is quite special to Ms. K — and to the annals of Los Angeles radio history. Ellen K had the privilege of serving as Dees’ KIIS-FM co-host from 1990 until early 2004.
