• A special quarter-century milestone has been reached by TroyResearch, which has been helping radio stations achieve — and overachieve — their ratings and revenue goals for the past 25 years.

As company President Jonathan Little explains, “Bill Troy got the idea for Internet-based research in 1997 and wrote the software while at Strategic Media Research in Chicago. He left and went looking for radio research clients. At that time few radio stations had websites and few PDs had email.” On April 1, 1998, Little joined Troy’s fledgling company, then called RadioResearch. Three weeks later the firm signed its first client — WDEZ/Wausau, WI.

The company was soon doing video testing for MTV and VH-1 and perceptual studies on cell phone technology for Cellular One. As Little explains, “With the name change to TroyResearch, our commitment to radio was permanently in place, but the word about our research quality and customer service was spreading. In short order our customer list included Sony Motion Pictures, Austereo Radio-Australia, CBS, Clear Channel, Salem, Northwestern Media, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and many more.”

RAMP reached out to Little to congratulate him on 25 years of success. He told us, “I got into radio because I was a music missionary! I loved great music and wanted to share it. I’m still doing that for my radio friends through research.”
