A Toast, To Jack Daniel
• Beasley Media Group announced that Charlotte radio royalty Jack Daniel, PD/midday personality at Classic Hits WKQC (K104.7), will retire on Sept. 18, concluding an accomplished 54-year broadcasting career that helped shape the Charlotte radio landscape and influenced generations of broadcasters.
Daniel joined Beasley Charlotte in March 2018 as afternoon host on K104.7, coming off a 22-year run across the street at iHeartMedia Alternative WEND (106.5 The End), which he helped design and launch in 1995. Later that year, he was named PD of WSOC (Country 103.7), before assuming programming leadership of K104.7 in 2021.
Daniel’s radio career began on Sept. 18, 1972, at East Carolina University’s campus station, WECU, after an unexpected opportunity to step behind the microphone launched what would become more than five decades in radio. His career also included key leadership positions at WROQ, WBCY, WRFX, and WPEG-FM, where, in 1979, he launched Urban icon and current sister station Power 98.
In addition to his programming accomplishments, Daniel remained committed to developing future industry talent. He served on the Professional Advisory Board at Appalachian State University and regularly spoke to students at the Kellar Radio Institute, sharing his experience and passion for broadcasting with aspiring radio professionals. He also remained active throughout the Charlotte community while building a respected voice over career.
