ABC News Radio Welcomes WTOP/DC

• ABC News Radio announced that Hubbard All-News WTOP News/Washington is joining its network of more than 1,600 affiliate news and music stations around the country.

Beginning this month, this new partnership will support WTOP-FM by providing the station access to live two-ways with ABC News correspondents, including Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl, White House Correspondent Karen Travers, National Correspondent Stephen Portnoy and many others. WTOP News will also have access to ABC News Radio’s live breaking news and special events coverage, as well as reporter pieces and audio cuts available on ABC Newscall and articles for WTOP.com through the ABC News Digital service.

“ABC News Radio is proud to help serve the listeners of Washington, DC, by delivering the kind of top-caliber journalism and compelling storytelling that WTOP News is known for,” said Liz Alesse, Vice President of ABC Audio.

Joel Oxley, SVP/GM of WTOP, commented, “We are thrilled to partner with ABC News Radio to enhance our coverage, particularly as we enter another political season. Our top priority is providing our listeners with the best news on the radio, and adding access to another network partner with the talent and reporting of ABC News will help us continue to achieve that goal.”

The addition of WTOP News comes as ABC News Radio enters a new era with the official Jan. 1 start to its multiyear sales partnership with Compass Media Networks and distribution partnership with LinkUp Communications Corporation.

Alesse added, “Everyone involved at ABC Audio, Compass and LinkUp rose to the occasion in spectacular fashion to ensure this transition was as seamless as possible for our stations. That level of teamwork and dedication will continue to serve ABC News Radio and our affiliates as we enter this exciting new chapter.”
