Alpha Media Remixed For Lincoln
• It’s been an active week or so for the crew at Alpha Media in Lincoln, NE — at midnight on Feb. 15, Sports-Talk KLMS-1480 AM and FM translator K268DF (101.5) dropped the format, and News-Talk sister KFOR-1240 AM began simulcasting on both frequencies. The next day, KLMS-AM and KFOR’s former FM translator K277CA (103.3) relaunched as Adult Hits Mix 103.3, focusing on pop and Alternative hits from the late ’80s, ’90s & ’00s from a broad range of genres and artists like Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, Fun., and Panic! at The Disco, etc.
Concurrent with these moves, the local sports programming that had aired on KLMS, including Hail Varsity Radio, has migrated across the hall to KFOR-AM 1240, now also enjoyed on 101.5FM.
Katie Philippi, Market Manager of Alpha Media Lincoln, said, “We are excited to offer a new music option for those in the listening area. We hope that Mix 103.3 is a fun and upbeat audio alternative while simultaneously creating a new channel for advertisers to connect with a diverse and active audience. The migration of sports programming to KFOR is a unique opportunity to maximize our resources and provide more localized content in a hybrid form.”
Content Director Rob Kelley noted, “There are so many great songs that are the favorites of many Lincoln residents that were not being exposed on any of the area stations. Listeners and advertisers now have a fun familiar music ‘alternative’ for moving through their day and when they just want to feel good, disconnect, and sing their heart out!”
