‘And In The End…’

• It truly is the end of an era in Philadelphia, as André Gardner, longtime afternoon personality on Beasley Classic Hits 102.9 WMGK announced that he was ending his three-decade-long run as the host of Breakfast With The Beatles Sunday.

Gardner, who marked the epic 1,000-episode milestone last September (with special guest Ringo Starr!), explained his reasoning in a lengthy Facebook post that reads, in part, “The decision to end Breakfast With The Beatles Sunday was 100% mine. It takes many hours to research, write, record and mix the show each week and, simply put, I want to devote more time to do other things, both on and off the air.”

The end of Breakfast With The Beatles Sunday certainly won’t end Gardner’s lifelong devotion to all-things Fab Four, as he added, “I’ll still be doing what I love, playing you incredible Classic Rock weekdays from 2-7pm on 102.9 MGK, and I’ll make sure we continue our tradition of presenting Christmas Eve With The Beatles and hosting live Beatles cruises and events, not to mention my Beatles Minute podcast that I will continue to produce every week (out now wherever you get your podcasts!)

RAMP sent our best wishes to André, who replied, “This was the radio show I’d always dreamt of doing, and I’ll always be grateful to the collectors, program directors, musicians, listeners and friends who helped make my version of Breakfast With The Beatles Sunday a true labor of love.”
