Arrivals & Upgrades @ WXLC/Waukegan

• Alpha Media’s suburban Chicago Hot AC WXLC/Waukegan, IL announced several key promotions and a revised talent line-up — let’s start in the Programming Department, as 16-year station vet Frank Wright (pictured, below) has earned the upgrade to Content Director. He will remain in midday

Now, let’s meet the new 102.3 XLC morning show — Wes & Leah debuts today and features Wes McKane and Leah Andersen. McKane famously spent 16 years with Entercom Milwaukee until last August — most of that time was spent in mornings on Top 40 WXSS (103.7 Kiss FM) and the last two years as morning co-host on Hot AC sibling WMYX (99.1 The Mix).

Andersen spent the past seven years in various roles at Active Rock sister WIIL-FM (95.1 WIIL Rock), which covers the neighboring areas of Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee and Chicago’s northern suburbs. The new show will run an extra hour (5-10am), and Tim Vander Tuuk will continue to do news and traffic. Former morning host Jimmy Novak has exited.

And there’s more — Jason Cornell, who doubles as WXLC’s Chief Engineer, is promoted from nights to afternoon drive, while the night show is awarded to Promotions Director Janelle Rominski. Jeff Randolph remains in overnights.
