• Northshire Alternative WEQX/Manchester, VT-Albany, NY announces several exciting personnel moves, starting with Joy Proft‘s upgrade from weekends to middays, effective Monday, May 25. Fun Facts: Proft (left) worked at EQX in the ’90s, later did West Coast record promotion and previously owned a local Manchester clothing business. Proft replaces Ryan Bushee (right), who has reportedly accepted one of those fabled “real jobs” outside of radio, but will continue to host the station’s long-running Sunday night local music show, EQXPosure.
PD Jeff Morad said, “It has been an absolute pleasure watching Ryan grow as the midday host, and local music director. His passion, dedication and natural talent will be missed, but the blow is lessened in knowing that he’ll still be here giving great local bands the attention they deserve on Sunday nights from 7-9pm. Joy has proven her ability to accept a challenge and exceed expectations. Immediately upon her return to the airwaves, she implemented a feature called Sunday Brunch w/ Joy, where she interviews local business owners. It doesn’t get any more EQX than that — a perfect blend of music andsupport of independent business!”
But wait! There’s more! WEQX afternoon driver/Production/Imaging Director Keller (left) throws another log on the fire, as it were, as he assumes hosting duties for EQX Sunday Rewind, and Joel Marshall (right), a constant and reassuring presence in various capacities throughout WEQX’s 35-year history, returns to host a Saturday afternoon shift.
Commenting on Marshall’s move, Morad said, “Even though I’m pretty sure I’m older than Joel, I look at him like that uncle who you can’t wait to come around so you can hear all of his stories about the good ol’ days. Well, I’m thrilled to now have Joel on air every Saturday afternoon so we can get those stories on a regular basis!” Weighing in on Mr. Keller, Morad added, “As Program Director, I need to make some tough decisions; not a single one of those decisions is made without consulting with Keller first, because he never lets me (or the station) down. His decision to immediately step in to host The Sunday Rewind is a fine example of that. Mostly, because I didn’t even have to ask him! We would be lost without Keller, so back off… major market corporate suitors!”
