Ashley O Upped @ ALT92.3
• Cumulus Media’s eight-month-old Alternative WZRH (ALT 92.3)/New Orleans continues to build a great staff — the latest full-time enhancement is Ms. Ashley O, who is wisely elevated from the promotions department to the dizzying heights of MD and afternoon drive. You may recall that last June, WRKN (NASH 92.3) flipped to Alternative as ALT 92-3, swapping frequencies with WZRH, the former home of Alternative 106.1 The Underground and now the new home of the rebranded NASH FM 106.1. Got all that?
WZRH PD Paul “Gonzo” Cannell explains what led him to promote Ms. O, telling RAMP, “In a very short time, Ashley has transitioned from radio ‘newbie’ to a legitimate on-air star. She is passionate about the Alt format and the music, rarely comes to work in real pants, drinks me under the table, and never shows up on time. In short, she’s the perfect candidate for MD in the Gulf South’s first Alternative station in over a decade…” Ashley said, “Over the past few years I’ve worked my way through different departments in the Cumulus New Orleans cluster and helped with the ‘birth’ of our Alternative station. I’m excited for the opportunity to keep building ALT 92.3 with the support of a kickass team… constantly pinching myself that I get to have one of the coolest jobs in the best city in the world. This totally deserves a celebratory Bloody Mary, but then again, when has a New Orleanian ever needed an excuse?”
