‘Big Mic’ Makes A Big Decision
• There’s been a disturbance in the programming force at Audacy Sacramento, as Michael “Big Mic” Buhrman announced that he’s relinquishing his position as Regional Brand Manager of Rhythmic properties KSFM/Sacramento, KQKS/Denver, KDGS/Wichita and WZMX/Hartford. He will remain with the cluster for now as the company transitions into new facilities but tentatively plans to move back to Denver by the end of July.
Buhrman arrived in Sacramento as Brand Manager of KSFM exactly four years ago, earning the transfer after a 17-year run with Entercom/Audacy Rhythmic sister KQKS (KS107.5)/Denver, rising from the street team to APD/MD/afternoon drive talent and, later, Interim PD. Buhrman also had oversight of Top 40 KUDL (106.5 The End)/Sacramento from Jan. to June 2021, before he was awarded his Regional Rhythmic role.
Buhrman broke the news in a lengthy Facebook post that reads, in part, “Sometimes the hardest decisions that hurt the most are still the best decisions. Almost 4 years ago to the day I made THE toughest decision of my life as I left my home of Denver and drove to Sacramento for what became 4 of the most fulfilling and rewarding years of my life. 4 years later… and as my career hits drinking age of 21 years this week from Audacy/Entercom/Lincoln Financial Media/Jefferson Pilot Communications, I made the 2nd hardest decision of my life and I have submitted my letter of resignation earlier this week from Audacy as Regional Brand Manager.” He added, “My Audacy Sacramento family is SO DAMN amazing… the impact they made on me in 4 years will stick with me forever. And damn, the 17 years I had at KS1075 in Denver for over half of my life basically raised me into adulthood. As I look back over these last 21 years, I feel blessed.”
In closing, Buhrman said, “For the time being, not going anywhere as I help our team transition to a new facility, but tentative game plan is to move back to Denver by the end of July. Thank you to everyone who has helped me in my journey over these last 21 years, and thank you to anyone who trusted me in helping them in their lives. Been a helluva ride.” Your best wishes can be sent to Buhrman at bigmic@ksfm.com.
