Bloom Sentenced To Nine Years

• Former major market programmer Andy Bloom was sentenced to nine years in prison following his April conviction on two second degree felony counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. According to court documents, the minor in question is Bloom’s now 16-year-old daughter.

The news was originally reported by the popular Philadelphia sports blog Crossing Broad, which also carried the update regarding his sentencing, along with other pertinent details.

Two-thirds of Bloom’s nine-year sentence is expected to be served in jail, the remaining third on parole, with a 10-year probation period to follow.

Prior to sentencing, a handful of documents were uploaded to the Minnesota court system, one a 32-page collection of character references supporting a motion to put Bloom on probation in lieu of imprisonment. In response, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty and Assistant County Attorney, Paige Starkey issued an eight-page letter asking the judge to deny the motion and incarcerate the 63-year-old Bloom for a time period between 90 and 108 months, and he received the full 108 months.

According to court records, Bloom is currently being held “for commit/transport order,” and is expected to be moved out of Hennepin County Jail.
