Farias Named MD of K-FOX/San Jose

Karina Farias has been upped from Music Director to Program Director of Bonneville Classic Rock KUFX (98.5 KFOX)/San Jose, CA, effective immediately. As Program Director, Farias will support ratings, revenue, and digital growth of KFOX and the online/social assets. She reports to Brian Figula, Bonneville’s Bay Area Director of Programming Operations, who commented, “Karina has quickly elevated our music and programming initiatives for both KUFX and KOIT. Her passion, commitment and digital talents, will reinforce the market-leading classic rock position we have on 98.5 KFOX. Nobody deserves this opportunity more than Karina.”

As RAMP reported back in June 2018, Farias was named MD of K-FOX and AC sister KOIT/San Francisco, making the whiplash-inducing leap upward from Bryan-College Station, TX (Market #186), where she worked for Bryan Broadcasting as APD/MD and afternoon personality on Country KVMK (Maverick 100.9) and APD/MD on Classic Country Willy 97.7 (KNDE-HD2). She also did part-time on Entercom Country KILT (100.3 The Bull)/Houston.

“Ever since I started in radio, it has been a dream of mine to program a radio station,” said Farias. “Little did I know that I would achieve that dream with such legendary call letters. I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to Carl Gardnerand Brian Figula for believing in me and trusting me with this heritage brand. San Jose, let’s continue to make the South Bay rock!” 98.5 KFOX is approaching its 30th anniversary and is the flagship of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks.
