Brehmer’s Coming Back To WXRT!
• We couldn’t have said it any better than yesterday’s tweet from Audacy’s WXRT/Chicago that joyfully exclaimed: “Beloved personality @LinBrehmer, who has been medical sabbatical since July will return to the airwaves Monday, Nov. 28 at 10am. While Lin’s chemotherapy continues, he’s coming back to host weekdays 10am-1pm. Welcome back Lin, you were truly missed and we celebrate this milestone.”
Back in mid-July, Brehmer, a three-decade fixture at XRT, shared his medical update in a post that read, in part, “I have been fighting prostate cancer for several years. I have worked through various radiation treatments, biopsies, CT Scans, MRI’s and drug therapies. The cancer was caught early, treated early, but it has spread places one would rather it did not spread. Starting Monday I will begin a long period of chemotherapy. It is necessary for me to take a leave of absence from my radio show. I have the full support of my family and friends and WXRT to see me through my medical sabbatical.”
As you might imagine, once the news of Brehmer’s return was posted, the outpouring of love was immediate and abundant, as evidenced by this jubilant post from WXRT Executive Producer Chris Kwiak, which reads: “Absolutely thrilled that @LinBrehmer is well enough to return to @93XRT Monday at 10am. Lin’s voice is like a warm hug and his words like comfort food for the soul. Thankful for @NorthwesternMed & everyone’s outpouring of love & support for our best friend in the whole world.”
