Audacy Realigns Sports Department

• Leading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Audacy announced several significant executive moves within its Sports and Sports Betting departments — a staff memo from EVP, Head of Programming Jeff Sottolano, obtained by RAMP, lays out the changes, starting with the news of the impending departure of SVP of Sports Matt Volk (left) and the subsequent elevation of Danny Freisinger (center) to VP of Sports, and Mitch Rosen (right) to VP of the company’s BetQL Network.

Sottolano explained, “Matt has a great opportunity to return to his first love, sports television, in a C-level position back home in Boston.” Prior to joining Entercom/Audacy in 2021, Volk was VP, Content Strategy with NBC Sports Washington, preceded by a 15-year run with ESPN. Stay tuned for further details on Volk’s new gig.

Freisinger is the former Brand Manager of KIFM (ESPN 1320)/Sacramento and Asst. Brand Manager of KGMZ (95.7 The Game)/San Francisco, who joined Audacy’s central team a year ago. “[Matt] will be elevated to VP, Sports and have operational oversight of the 2400Sports podcast network,” Sottolano explained. “He will also lead our sports editorial and video content teams and partner with Sports Format VP Spike Eskin on new multi-platform content development for internal and external distribution platforms. 2400Sports VP/Executive Producer Lena Glaser will continue to lead our prestige/national podcast shows, talent and content development.”

Sottolano also announced that Mitch Rosen, who has served as Director of Operations for the company’s BetQL Network will be elevated to VP, BetQL Network. “He will oversee BetQL Brand Manager Andrew Williams and our team of talent, producers and writers,” Sottolano said. “He will also work closely with [Audacy President of Sports] Mike Dee to grow our sports book relationships and increase external distribution of the network.” Rosen will retain his existing position as Brand Manager of WSCR-AM (670 The Score)/Chicago.
