Bridges Held Over In Detroit

Cumulus Media has re-upped Robby Bridges as Director of FM Programming for the company’s Detroit cluster, overseeing Hot AC WDVD, Country WDRQ (NASH FM 93.1) and Classic Country WDRQ-HD2 (NASH Icon 93.1). Bridges also anchors afternoon drive on WDVD and is a member of Cumulus Media’s Hot AC and Country format SWAT teams. Mike Wheeler, Operations Manager of Cumulus Media Detroit, said, “Robby is an ideal programming partner. He lives and breathes these radio stations and that love shows in what comes out of the speakers and in the quality of the team he’s built.”

You may recall that Mr. Bridges (left) was our distinguished RAMP Leap Of The Week™ honoree back in April 2014 when earned the spectacular transfer from the PD post at Cumulus AC WEBE/Bridgeport, CT (Market 124) to Detroit (Market 12) as the PD of WDRQ. Bridges has been with Cumulus since 2008 when he joined WEBE as APD/afternoon talent. In late 2011 he transferred to the PD chair at sister WFAS/Westchester, NY and returned to WEBE in August 2013 as PD/morning personality. Bridges has also worked in Providence, Boston and Philadelphia and he did weekends/swing on WPLJ/New York and on Cumulus Media Network’s True Oldies channel.

Bridges remarked, “These are very special radio stations powered by a very special team of people! Rebuilding WDRQ from scratch as a Country station and watching it spread it wings and helping WDVD get to a new level have been most gratifying and I’d like to thank Mike McVay, Mike Wheeler, Rob Roberts and Charlie Cook for their continued belief in me. It’s kind of crazy to think that this spring I will mark four years in Detroit, 10 with Cumulus and 25 in radio… What a journey!”
