Broadway Touches Down In Traverse City

• Major market veteran Bill “Broadway” Bertschinger, who last month resigned from afternoon drive on Cumulus Country WDRQ (New Country 93.1)/Detroit has resurfaced elsewhere in Michigan — scenic Traverse City, to be specific, hired by MacDonald Garber Broadcasting as PD/morning talent for Top 40 WKHQ (106 KHQ) and PD of Country WSRT (106.7 Star Country).

The WKHQ PD position (and morning show) has been vacant since Robby Bridges and his wife Rochelle Gagnon left last September to join Press Communications’ Classic Rock simulcast WWZY & WBHX (107-1 The Boss)/Monmouth-Ocean, NJ.

Bertschinger joined WDRQ in May 2019 following stints with WDSY (Y108)/Pittsburgh, WWYZ/HartfordWKIS/Miami and WBCT & WSNX/Grand Rapids, MI. He continues to maintain a strong Michigan presence and is still tracking afternoons at Cumulus Top 40 WHTS (103.5 Hot FM)/Grand Rapids.
