Brooks New Asst. News Director @ KCBS/SF
• Just days before Scripps News-Talk WTMJ and Country WKTI/Milwaukee change ownership to Good Karma Brands (and WKTI flips to Sports-Talk), RAMP has learned that WTMJ Director of News & Programming Eric Brooks has accepted the position of Asst. News Director at Entercom All-News KCBS/San Francisco, with a start date of Nov. 12.
In a staff memo from Tom Langmyer, the outgoing VP/GM of Scripps’ Milwaukee Radio Operations and VP of News-Talk-Sports, said, “Eric has grown tremendously in his nearly eight years at WTMJ — and has made countless contributions at Radio City. Most recently, he designed and oversaw the station’s excellent coverage during the Brewers’ playoff run. As Director of News & Programming at WTMJ, we’ve counted on his being dedicated and engaged every day on content — and he’s challenged our team to lead on topics, stories, events and community service.”
Langmyer added, “On a personal note, it’s been a pleasure to work with Eric here, and previously at WGN/Chicago. I’m very proud of him — and it’s very exciting to cheer on Eric & Jenny (and, of course, “Gary the Dog“) on their upcoming West Coast adventure. Congratulations to a great broadcaster and a great person!”
• As we previously mentioned, Scripps VP of Radio Steve Wexler will become VP/Market Manager of Good Karma’s newly combined Milwaukee operations and has begun the recruiting process for a new programming leader for WTMJ. As for Mr. Langmyer, he will announce his future plans on Thursday, Nov. 1.
