Buchmann In Orbit Over SiriusXM Gig

• We could not be more thrilled to report that our pal Bob Buchmann is off the beach and back in his natural habitat — on the radio. Buchmann has joined SiriusXM as Director of Music Programming, based at the company’s swanky new Hollywood HQ at 953 N. Sycamore Avenue.

Buchmann spent the past seven years with iHeartMedia Classic Rock KGB/San Diego as Operations Manager and afternoon co-host until April of this year. Prior to his arrival in sunny San Diego in 2012, Buchmann spent nearly three years programming KLOS/Los Angeles, preceded by a decade at the helm of Clear Channel Classic Rock WAXQ (Q104.3)/New York. Earlier in his career Buchmann notably served as VP of Programming at Long Island’s venerable Classic Rock station WBAB.

RAMP caught up with Buchmann, who shared his excitement about his new opportunity, telling us, “The energy on the floor and degree of collaborative thinking in the company make this a dream job. Plus, it’s been an amazing experience applying what I’ve learned in local radio to channels with a North American footprint.”

Bob’s big SiriusXM debut is scheduled for tomorrow, Nov. 14, and we can safely report it’s going to be a pretty special launch — he’ll be chatting with none other than Jeff Lynne about the brand new album from Jeff Lynne’s ELO From Out Of Nowhere. Bob and Jeff will play some cuts from the new record, along with some classic ELO stuff — and take your calls. Set your reminder to listen to Telephone Line… LIVE, with the lovely and talented Mr. Bob Buchmann, tomorrow at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Classic Vinyl, SiriusXM 26.
