Buckles Tackles Wichita’s Bull
• Congrats to Michelle Buckles, APD/MD/afternoon personality on iHeartMedia Country KZSN (102.1 The Bull)/Wichita, who now adds the title of Program Director to her broadcast day, along with the added responsibilities of programming lead for the Wichita cluster.
The good news of Buckles’ upgrade was delivered in a staff memo from Dave Ashcraft, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Arkansas & Texas Areas, which includes the Wichita market. “I’m excited to share the news that Michelle Buckles has been officially elevated to Program Director of 102.1 The Bull,” Ashcraft said. “In addition, Michelle will serve as the programming lead for the Wichita cluster with programming oversight of all of our brands.” He added, “Michelle’s been the driving force behind the success of The Bull the past two years, and has been a tremendous help and resource as we’ve transitioned our programming structure. I look forward to celebrating even more wins under Michelle’s leadership.”
Buckles enjoys a lengthy history with KZSN — she initially joined the station in 2009 and stayed until Nov. 2015, when she accepted a transfer to Country cousin KBEB (92.5 The Bull)/Sacramento as APD/midday personality, while continuing to track afternoons in Wichita. She returned to KSZN in Jan. 2018 and was upped to APD/MD in Nov. 2018.
The Bull has not had a permanent PD since SVP of Programming Jim Dorman exited in Nov. 2020 during a round of company downsizing. Buckles can be congratulated at MichelleBuckles@iHeartMedia.com.
