Calhoun Earns iHeart Upgrade

RAMP has confirmed that Corey Calhoun has resigned his dual role as MD and evening entertainer at iHeartMedia Country 98.7 WMZQ/Washington, DC after eight years for an exciting new iHeart role TBA. You are advised to stay tuned.

Calhoun teased his news in an Instagram post that reads, in part, “I had the time of my life; entertaining the DMV is a special thing. Never knowing what influential person I made giggle for the day. Made lifelong friends and memories. Thank you Jeff Kapugi for giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and taking a chance on me! As your favorite employee, it was a pleasure working for you! It’s been an honor and privilege, DMV! Excited for my next chapter coming soon.”

Calhoun joined WMZQ in June 2018, coming off a three-year stint with Country sister WAMZ/Louisville where he started in March 2015 as APD/afternoon personality and was later upped to morning co-host. Calhoun earlier programmed Cumulus Top 40 WLTO (Hot 102)/Lexington, KY and iHeartMedia Top 40 WQGA & Country WYNR/Brunswick, GA. Calhoun began his radio career at WWWQ (Q99.7)/Atlanta as an intern for Adam Bomb‘s night show.

With Calhoun’s departure, there are now TWO prime Country opportunities in the group now available — 1) Nights on WMZQ, and 2) APD/PM Drive on WMZQ & WPOC/Baltimore to succeed Ty Bailey, who left in April. The later opening is posted HERE — (Req38321). EOE.
