Programming Changes @ Entercom Sacramento
• UPDATED: Restructuring in the Programming Dept. at Entercom Sacramento has resulted in the departure of Tim “Rayne” Rainey as Brand Manager and morning co-host at Top 40 KUDL (106.5 The End) after five years. Rayne’s programming duties have been absorbed by Michael “Big Mic” Buhrman, Brand Manager of Rhythmic sibling KSFM.
Rainey (left) arrived in Sacramento as PD of the former KDND (107.9 The End) in Oct. 2015, following a three-year run as PD of former CBS Radio Top 40 WDZH (98.7 AMP Radio)/Detroit. Before that he spent five years at the programming helm of Radio One Top 40 WNOU/Indianapolis. A native of Palo Alto, CA, Rainey moved to Nevada as a kid and got his first taste of radio at the age of 13, interning as a board op at KGVM/Gardnerville, NV. He later relocated to Reno where he gained experience at KDOT, KLCA and KWNZ, then moved to Las Vegas, graduating from UNLV in 2004. Rainey also worked at KLUC/Las Vegasand KHTT/Tulsa before landing in Indianapolis in 2006.
“I used to listen to 107.9 The End when I was a teenager and made it a career goal to someday work there,” Rayne tells RAMP. “Five years ago, that dream came true and I’m beyond proud of the ratings milestones and community give back we were able to achieve. I’ve grown so much more as a programmer and able to knock out continuous back-to-back #1 monthlies in key demos my first time as morning show host with an incredible team helping me. I’m confident they will continue the tradition of #1 ratings success The End has had for decades. I’m looking forward to my next adventure and more continued #1’s.” Rayne can be easily reached at 415-290-8033 or rayne.onair@gmail.com.
• Buhrman (left) was named PD of KSFM in May 2018, earning the transfer after a 17-year run with Entercom Denver, where he was APD/MD of Rhythmic KQKS (KS107.5) and PD of Comedy 103.1 (KALC-HD2).
“Michael’s years of experience and successful track record make him the natural choice to bring his expertise and leadership to an already outstanding KUDL team,” said Stacey Kauffman, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Sacramento. “His passion, energy, creativity and optimism will serve both brands extremely well into the future.”
Buhrman commented, “I’m truly humbled and honored for the opportunity and privilege to take on the amazing set of call letters of KUDL here in Sacramento. To be able to drive KSFM and KUDL is not a responsibility I take lightly, and I thank Stacey Kauffman, [OM] Joe Calgaro, [Regional Pres.] Doug Abernethy and [Chief Programming Officer] Pat Paxton for this amazing opportunity.”
