Programming Dept.: Greene, Firmage

• Congrats to JD Greene, PD/afternoon talent on iHeartMedia Country WPGB (Big 104.7)/Pittsburgh, who just inked a swell new three-year extension. “You are stuck with me for 3 more years… I hope longer,” Greene posted to Facebook. A closer examination of the paperwork he signed also reveals that Greene has been awarded bonus PD stripes for Sports sibling WBGG-AM (ESPN 970/106.3). That station had most recently fallen under the purview of Gregg Henson, who recently exited as Director of Sports Content for iHeartMedia Pittsburgh.

In that same Facebook post, Greene summed up his newly expanded duties with this simple phase, “Music and sports. Two things I love.”

Jacobs Media has added veteran programmer Chris Firmage to its elite consulting team in the role of Associate Consultant. In this new role Firmage will provide support in several different areas of the company, ranging from promotion development, music analysis, research and more. Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs commented, “We continue to invest in new ideas and approaches for our clients. Chris brings us a solid history of success. He’s knowledgeable in many areas and I expect that he will have a positive impact for all of our clients.”

Firmage notably spent 13 years with Arizona Lotus Alternative KFMA/Tucson. He joined the station in 2000 to do nights and worked his way up to afternoons, Imaging Director and Music Director, culminating in his elevation to Brand Manager in November 2012. Firmage left KFMA in August 2014 and more recently worked for Westwood One as a syndicated air personality.

“I’m beyond excited to join the team at Jacobs,” stated Firmage. “Their devotion to radio and their enthusiasm for the future of the medium are wholly inspiring and now I get to observe, and more importantly, learn from everyone at the company on a daily basis. This is truly a dream opportunity for me and my family.” Firmage will remain in Tucson, where he lives with his wife and two children. He can be reached at chris@jacobsmedia.com.
