Chanley Named MD @ SoCal’s 88.5

• UPDATED: Public, member-supported Southern California Triple A 88.5 FM announced that afternoon drive personality Andy Chanley has been elevated to Music Director. The move marks the latest enhancement to 88.5’s programming department, coming a week after the promotion of former MD Mark “Mookie” Kaczorto Program Director.

Chanley (left) famously spent nearly a decade with former Entercom (previously Bonneville) Classic Rock KSWD (100.3 The Sound)/Los Angeles— he was the first jock on the air when the station launched and the final personality on The Sound when it signed off on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 when it was sold to EMF. He joined 88.5 to do afternoon drive in March 2018. Earlier in his career Chanley worked at the former KACD (Channel 103.1)and KLYY (Y107)/Los Angeles.

“Andy has done it all in this market — mornings, middays, afternoon drive — and has vast experience in all the rock format genres,” said 88.5 FM General Manager Patrick Osburn. “We are fortunate to have Mark ‘Mookie’ Kaczor at the program director post, and Andy working closely with him on music. They are a real one-plus-one-equals-three kind of complement to each other. I’m happy to say we are operating at full strength with great, experienced broadcasters in every position.

Chanley commented, “There’s no station in the world like 88.5 FM. It’s a special blend of music and people — on both sides of the transmitter — that makes radio fun again. I’m really proud to be on this team, and beyond excited at the opportunity to help steer the rudder even more.” Chanley can be congratulated at andy@885fm.org.

88.5 is a combined effort of KCSN, which serves California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and KSBR, which serves Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. The two stations began simulcasting as 88.5 FM in October 2017, linking the Los Angeles County and Orange County-based signals.
