Chernoff Joins New Jersey’s Boss

• Press Communications Classic Rock simulcast WWZY/WBHX (107-1 The Boss)/Monmouth-Ocean just keeps adding Tri-State legends to the team — this latest high-profile hire is none other than iconic broadcaster, programmer and New York City area radio veteran Mark Chernoff, who joins PD Robby Bridges and wife Rochelle as Sports Anchor on Robby & Rochelle in the Morning, while also pulling swing shifts on the station.

“Every research study indicates local radio’s strengths are its personalities and its connection to the community it serves,” Bridges noted. “Whether it’s entertainment from Rochelle and I, local information from our news anchor Dianne DeOliveira, weather from our staff meteorologist ‘Nor’easter’ Nick Pittman, traffic from the legendary Joe Nolan, and now sports from Mark, listeners to 107-1 The Boss in the morning will hear everything New Jersey and New York live and we’ll have fun doing it! Mark is an exceptional talent with a brilliant strategic mind I’ve long respected, and I’m thrilled to have him join our team of outstanding broadcasters at Press!”

Chernoff famously spent three decades as Program Director of WFAN/New York and CBS Sports Radio until his retirement last June. Chernoff got his radio start as a jock at Rutgers University’s WRSU and started his pro on-air career at AC WNNJ/Newton, NJ, eventually rising to PD. He later moved on to WDHA/Dover, NJ as the morning host and eventual PD, and in 1985, he marked his first stint at the late, legendary WNEW/New York, then a rock station, as the MD and eventually, PD. Chernoff also programmed Howard Stern‘s former longtime terrestrial flagship, the late WXRK (92.3 K-Rock). More recently, he was on-air at Classic Hits WCBS-FM/New York.

Chernoff commented, “I’m looking forward to getting back on the radio at 107-1 The Boss and to be able to live in both the Sports and Rock worlds. Many thanks to Robby and Rochelle for inviting me into THEIR world!”
