Condolences: Nick Cash

• Over the weekend we received the sad news that veteran programmer and air talent Nick Cash died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, June 11 at his home in Hickory, NC. He was only 56 years old.

Cash, whose given name was Richard Szost, was born May 8, 1965 in Bridgeport, CT and most recently worked for Curtis Media Group’s Foothills cluster in Lenoir, NC as OM of Country WKVS (Kicks 103.3), Classic Hits WKGX and Hot AC WJRI (Star 94.7/100.5/1340) and PD/morning host at Kicks 103.3.

Cash notably spent eight years at the programming helm of iHeartMedia Country KHGE (102.7 The Wolf)/Fresno and served as iHeartCountry Brand Captain for the company’s Central California Region. His earlier PD stops include KWYL & KNEV/Reno, NV, WYIL/Knoxville, TN and KKXX/Bakersfield, CA, and he also did a stint in afternoons at KHFI/Austin.

Cash leaves behind a daughter, LeAnn Szost, 22, of Dallas; sister, Bonnie Litterine and brother-in-law Rich Litterine of Dunnellon, FL, and two nephews, Richie and Anthony Litterine. The family will hold a private memorial service in Dunnellon, FL. [Special thanks to Roger Fregoso]
