Condolences: Wes Miller

• The Youngstown, OH radio community is mourning the passing of one of their own — native son Wes Miller, Program Director of iHeartMedia AC WMXY (Mix 98.9)&Country WBBG (106.1 The Bull)/Youngstown, OH and the co-host of the Wes and Lindsay morning show on Mix 98.9 passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday, September 23, 2019. He was only 53 years old. Our condolences go out to Miller’s family, including his grown children and his wife, Shelley.

“We’re all in shock — too young,” said Keith Kennedy, Area SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s North Ohio Region, who first met Miller when he worked weekends at WKDD/Akron in the early 2000s. “We reconnected again when he became PD of Mix/Youngstown about three years ago,” Kennedy tells RAMP. Miller’s radio career had taken him to Meadville, PA, Las Vegas, Akron, OH and back to his hometown of Youngstown.

A message on the Mix website reads, in part, “Wes was a bright spot each morning on the radio and his infectious laugh will be missed in our hallways each day.”

The family will host a public reception this Thursday, September 26 from 3-7pm at the iHeartMedia Youngstown studios at 7461 South Ave. A celebration of life will follow at 7pm. Kennedy added, “Wes was incredibly giving and thoughtful. I realize everybody says nice things when someone passes — but Wes Miller was genuine. He’s going to be missed.”

Wes Miller was an organ donor. His thoughtful gifts will be transplanted into over 100 people on organ donation waiting lists. Register to donate today at donatelifeohio.org.
