Conway & Douglas Exit Long Island’s MAX FM

• More radio departures, this time on Long Island, as RAMP has learned that PD Tommy Conway and morning personality Jim Douglas have been let go from Connoisseur Classic Hits WBZO (103.1 MAX FM).

When we did some quick math, Conway enjoyed a successful 18-year run on Long Island, including six years of stellar ratings as PD/midday talent on [AC sister] WALK 97.5, and the last two and a half as PD and afternoons on MAX-FM. Douglas (right) had been doing mornings on MAX since the station launched in 2015. He was previously morning co-host for WWFS (now WNEW)/New York and KJOY/Long Island.

In an ironic twist, Conway notes that 103.1 MAX-FM is currently nominated for a Marconi Award for Classic Hits Station of the Year, and Douglas is set to receive an award for Outstanding Morning Show at the upcoming NYSBA Excellence in Broadcasting Awards.

Conway adds, “The two of us will be playing some golf together in the crisp Fall air over the next few weeks, and are both looking forward to what’s next.” Conway can be reached at TConwayLI@hotmail.com, and Douglas can be contacted at jpdoug1@optonline.net.
