Cumulus ATL Sells 97.9, Realigns Frequencies

• Cumulus Media Atlanta formally announced the pending sale of its 97.9 FM translator (W250BC), along with a series of frequency and HD channel realignments designed to improve signal efficiency and support long-term brand growth in the market.

As part of these changes — 1) Classic Hip Hop OG97.9 will move from 97.9 to 98.9 (W255CJ) and shift from WWWQ-HD3 to WWWQ-HD2, and 2) Classic Alternative WNNX (99X) will continue to air on 100.5 FM and will discontinue its simulcast on 98.9 and WWWQ-HD2.

Until the sale of the 97.9 translator is finalized, Cumulus Atlanta will temporarily simulcast OG on both 97.9 and 98.9.

Justin Schaflander, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Atlanta, said, “The pending sale of the 97.9 FM translator, together with these frequency realignments, reflects our disciplined approach to optimizing our Atlanta assets. These moves strengthen signal efficiency and position our brands for continued growth.”

We understand W250BC is being sold to Christian broadcaster Radio Training Network, which will flip 97.9 to Contemporary Christian as part of its Joy FM Network.
