Curtis Media Raleigh Launches Hot AC
• Curtis Media Group Raleigh got busy today and flipped WQDR-AM 570 (and its giant 92.9 translator) from Classic Country to Hot AC as Star 92.9, serving the Raleigh-Durham region. The new station also picked up new calls — WPLW, which are related to sister Top 40 simulcast WWPL/WPLW-FM(Pulse FM 96.9/102.5). Star 92.9 will get off to a strong start in morning drive starting Wednesday with the debut of the Charlotte-based syndicated Bob & Sheri.
Terry Ratliff, GM of Star 92.9 and Pulse, commented, “Our success with Pulse FM 96.9/102.5 led us to launch the new Star 92.9. It gives us the opportunity to go beyond today’s hits to play a deeper library of superstars. We are also very excited to welcome Bob and Sheri to the Triangle. They have a proven track record in other North Carolina markets, and we look forward to introducing them to the Triangle on Star 92.9.”
Star 92.9’s programming will be led by Jud Heussler, PD of Pulse FM 96.9/102.5, who remarked, “It’s so exciting to introduce Star 92.9 to the Triangle! As the only Hot AC station in the area, Star 92.9 will be the home for today’s biggest artists, and Star’s variety will also have something for everyone in the family!”
