David Corey: Free Agent; WDRQ To Be Sold
• UPDATED: Well this sucks… RAMP has learned that David Corey has exited as Director of FM Programming for Cumulus Hot AC 96.3 WDVD and WDRQ (New Country 93.1)/Detroit after two years and change, as word is widely circulating that Cumulus is selling WDRQ to a Christian broadcaster, reportedly Family Life Broadcasting System. No word yet on who will take command of WDVD
Corey arrived in the Motor City in April 2021, following a three-year stint with Beasley Media Group Boston as PD of Country WKLB and corporate Country Brand Manager. Prior to that, he served as Toronto-based VP of Programming for Bell Media’s 105 radio stations in Canada and PD of 104.5 CHUM-FM/Toronto for 10 years. Corey began his career at the age 17 at WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston (hence, his early nickname, “Kid David“), where he worked his way up the ranks to serve as APD/MD from 1995 until 2006.
Looking ahead, Corey can be easily accessed at kdmusic65@gmail.com.
