Diane Hansell: No Plans, No Adult Shoes
• After a successful 40+ year radio career that started as the first woman on the air at WMEE/Fort Wayne and is ending after 14 years as OM at MacDonald Garber Broadcasting AC WLXT (Lite 96.3)/Petoskey, MI, Diane Shannon Hansell is preparing to embark on an awesome Up North summer vacation with no plans, as she announced her impending retirement, effective Friday, May 23.
“I’ve had such a fun career in radio,” Hansell said. “The ’80s were so much fun… at least what I remember about them… WMEE/Fort Wayne, WNAP/Indianapolis, KWK/St Louis and many other stops, including some fun years at DMR and starting my own direct marketing company Radio One 2 One. Lite 96.3 was one of our clients, and when I decided to make the move to Northern Michigan, it was the perfect way to combine it all. But golf and the beach is calling my name, so Friday, May 23 will be my last day wearing adult shoes for a while.”
Hansell added, “A big thank you to the Garber family for a great place to end my broadcasting years. And if you are looking for an opportunity to settle down with a radio station that owns the community, there is an opening for the next leader of this radio station. Reach out to Gary Berkowitz or Peter Garber at Onairjobs2@gmail.com.”
