Huh? Utah Politicians Call For Civility

• Competing gubernatorial candidates in Utah are teaming up to release a series of ads calling for civility, and Bonneville Salt Lake City is helping them spread the word by donating airtime on their radio and television stations.

Democrat Chris Peterson and Republican Spencer Cox first approached Bonneville’s parent company, Deseret Management Corporation (DMC) with the idea to work together to promote the peaceful transfer of power. DMC’s advertising agency BonCom donated time and resources to develop the #StandUnited campaign and Bonneville Salt Lake stations KSL Newsradio, AC KSFI (FM100.3), Classic Rock KRSP (103.5 The Arrow) and KSL-TV are airing the ads in-kind across all of their channels and digital assets.

Cox said, “Although we sit on different sides of the aisle, we are both committed to American civility and a peaceful transition of power.” Peterson added, “Utah can be an example to the nation. Whether you vote by mail, or in person, we will peacefully support the outcome of this presidential election.”

If other media companies or stations are interested in promoting a similar campaign in their markets, BonCom will provide assistance and campaign materials for free. For more info, contact Candice Madsen at cmadsen@bonneville.com or BonCom’s Steve Wright at stevew@boncom.com.
