DJ Rax Upped To OM, Cumulus Savannah

• Cumulus Savannah has elevated DJ Rax from Interim to permanent Operations Manager for the four-station group — Urban WEAS (E93), Urban AC WTYB (Magic 103.9), Country WJCL (Kix 96) and Classic Rock WIXV (I-95). DJ Rax, a.k.a. Gary Shelton has programmed E93 and Magic 103.9 since 2018 and will continue to program those stations and do afternoon drive on E93.

In making the announcement, Eric Mastel, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Savannah, said, “This is an extremely well-earned promotion for DJ Rax. He was quick to step up and fill in when we needed an interim leader for the Operations Manager position in Savannah this past year. He is a tenured and experienced professional and is most deserving of this promotion.”

DJ Rax is a 25-year industry pro who previously programmed Flinn’s KXHT/Memphis and was Operations Manager for URBan Radio’s WMSU, WACR & WAJV/Columbus/Starkville, MS. He’s also been heard in Dallas and New Orleans.

“I have enjoyed these past several months serving as Interim Operations Manager and working with the amazing Cumulus Savannah team in that capacity,” Rax said. “I truly appreciate the opportunity to lead these great radio brands into the future as Operations Manager and look forward to creating the Coastal Empire’s best radio together.”
